    Wednesday Night Race Series

The club conducts a summer-long series from the first Wednesday in June until the end of August. The Wednesday night races are run under PHRF rule. Typically a large fleet consisting of a mix of yachts from Concordia Yawls to J/35s join in the fun.

Races start at 1800 outside the mouth of the Harraseeket River. Please join us!

There will be a season kick-off meeting on the Wednesday before the Tune Up race at the club house. The Tune Up race will be the last Wednesday in May. Please check the HYC calendar for the latest dates of events, races, and after race barbeques.

The Harraseeket Yacht Club Regatta – Last Saturday in June

This regatta is held annually in June as part of the Gulf of Maine Ocean Racing Association’s spring series. The HYC Regatta is also the final event of the GMORA Casco Bay Club Challenge. The course takes the fleet through the glorious islands of Casco Bay. All HYC members, Casco Bay Yacht Clubs, GMORA racers, and local recreational and weekend racers are welcome. Come and enjoy a day on the bay in a pursuit race format sailing around the islands from Harraseeket River to Eagle Island and many islands in between. Whether you are out for a family race or serious competition, this race has it all. The finish is in the vicinity of Potts Harbor and Dolphin Marina.

You can register online at Regattaman.com

Check out the GMORA site for more racing opportunities.

    HYC Women’s Cup

This event will be run as part of the Wednesday Night PHRF series. Each boat’s skipper must be a woman. A trophy will be presented at the annual meeting for the 1st place finish. If there is not a woman on your boat, please invite a friend or club member to take over the helm for the race.

HYC Annual Punch Bowl Regatta – Saturday after Labor Day

The Punch Bowl Race is a long-standing tradition involving most of the HYC racing community. Typically, this race is handicapped as a pursuit race and is held the day of the annual membership meeting in early September. Family and friends are welcome to join in the fun!

Your cooperation is needed; this is a pursuit race in which the starting times are predetermined based on PHRF rating. If you have any thought of participating it is imperative you contact the RC Chair with your boat type and PHRF numbers with and without spinnaker. It is all right to decide late; you can tell RC just before the start if you are using your spinnaker.

Grub Tub Worlds with Lasers – TBD Saturday in September

You do not need to be an HYC member to race. This is a competitive AND fun race. There will be two classes, each with its own start: Grub Tubs and Lasers. There will be trophies for 1st place and honorable mention for 2nd.

Commodore’s Cup Race: TBD Saturday in October

In distant years the Commodore’s Cup has been held in early October for those hardy souls who refuse to give up early on the sailing season.

    Wiener Trophy: TBD

In many ways, the Wiener Trophy series embodies the spirit of HYC. Dot and Dick Wiener established the trophy after they observed all the fun that club members were having racing the club’s dinghies on a sunny summer afternoon. The format changes somewhat from year to year, but consists of dinghy races held in the fall. Multi-generational teams race and it is not uncommon to see a five year old burning up the course with their parent. Students from the club’s sailing program often skipper and leave their parents in the dust!
