Hello! My name is Emily Jennings and I am studying Mechanical Engineering and Math at Union College. I grew up in Freeport and I began sailing with the HYC Youth Sailing program at age eight and I worked my way up to the 420 Race Team (Emily has been a Maine State 420 Champion!). Last year I was the head Recruits and Mates instructor for the first session and I became the head instructor for the new Advanced Training Group during the second session. I also was the head instructor for the Guppies in the afternoons. My family’s boat lives in the Harraseeket River and I spend my summers on the water sailing. Can’t wait to see you on the water!

I believe the ultimate goal of the program is to turn the participants into confident independent sailors through hands-on learning.

Hello, my name is Annabelle, and this is my second summer working at HYC. I grew up on Peak’s Island, and am attending St. Michael’s College in the fall. My love for sailing developed when I was eight years old, and since then I have spent every summer on the water. I raced Optis for one summer before transitioning into 420 racing, which I did for three summers and four years in high school. I am looking forward to a great summer and lots of fun on the water!

Consider donating to the Beth Willhoite Youth Sailing Scholarship Fund

The purpose of this fund is to give children, who otherwise would not be able to attend the HYC sailing program, the opportunity to learn to sail and gain confidence on the water. One core mission of the Harraseeket Yacht Club is to promote youth sailing and we feel privileged to honor Beth’s memory in this manner. The Goal – Secure funding through member donations, sponsors and the community sufficient to provide a minimum of two scholarships forever. Our initial goal for this fund is $15,000.
