Objective:
“The objective of the club shall be to encourage and promote the sport of boating and science of seamanship and navigation particularly for instruction to the youth of this area and to do all things necessary or incidental to the accomplishment and fulfillment of said purposes”.

HYC Sailing Program:
Harraseeket Yacht Club is dedicated to promoting the sport of sailing, especially through it’s youth sailing. Classes are held at the HYC in South Freeport, Maine. Sailing takes place both inside and outside the beautiful and historic Harraseeket River. Beginners build confidence sailing inside the harbor, often in the cove next to the Club. More experienced sailors venture outside to race and practice in more open, breezier waters. There is no finer location for both beginners and advanced sailors than in Casco Bay. Students sail daily, weather permitting. Classes and other activities are held ashore on foul weather days. The focus of all we do is to promote the sport of sailing, safe seamanship, and to have fun on the water.
The Harraseeket Yacht Club in South Freeport, Maine has a long history of leadership and innovation in sailing education. Graduates from the program have crossed oceans and cruised around the world as well as competed in local, regional and world level regattas. The goal of the program is to insure students have a safe and fun summer experience built around developing sound sportsmanship and learning skills of sailing, racing and seamanship. By stimulating young people’s interest in sailing, we hope they develop a love of a skill that will last a lifetime. Our program is divided up by age and experience.
