Volunteering

Feb 27, 2026
See the Volunteer page for more details. Job List will go live on same day as IceBreaker, March 19 at Maine Beer Co.

For the 2026 season, each program leader has created a detailed volunteer budget that lists every position, when it is needed, and how many volunteer hours will be awarded for each task. This planning tool will be posted on the HYC website to provide “one stop shopping” for all members, allowing you to sign up for the volunteer roles that best match your interests and availability while ensuring you meet your required hours. The minimum required volunteer hours remain unchanged at 15 hours for Family memberships and 8 hours for Individual memberships. For context, it takes more than 3,000 volunteer hours each season to run our club.

In March, this new volunteer system will go live. We are asking all members to visit the site before the end of April and sign up for their full volunteer hour commitment for the 2026 season. This final step is essential to the efficient operation of HYC and greatly reduces the need for chairs to chase last-minute help or risk leaving important tasks unfinished.

We look forward to an enthusiastic adoption of this new approach, which is essential to sharing the workload of operating the club and supports the long-term vitality of our organization.

For questions during the roll out, the Board will be available at the “Ice Breaker” to answer questions, and our Vol Coordinator will be standing by to answer your questions during the April Sign up period.
