Taylor Marshall
Sailing Program Director
Hey there HYC family and friends! My name is Taylor Marshall and I am thrilled to be returning to HYC as the sailing program director for my fourth summer. In the off-season I am a first grade teacher and camping enthusiast. I fell in love with sailing when I was a young child living on Cape Cod. I grew up sailing mostly for fun in Sunfish, Optis, Lasers, and 420s. When I got to high school I competed on my varsity sailing team for four years and had the honor to serve as team captain. Through college, I worked as the head instructor for Waquoit Bay Yacht Club in Falmouth, MA. I have always found sailing to be a beautiful sport, one that I am extremely passionate about.
I am looking forward to another fun-filled summer!

Alexis Chomyn
Opti Race Coach
Hey! My name is Alexis Chomyn, and I’m so excited to return to HYC this summer as the Opti race coach! I study physics at Lewis and Clark College, and I am a member of the Lewis and Clark sailing club. I currently live in Los Angeles California, but I have spent all of my summers in Freeport. I grew up sailing at HYC, making my way up from recruits to the ATG program in 2016. I have always found a very strong community at HYC and I am thrilled to share my love for this summer camp with all of you!
Kique Ruiz
ATG Junior Instructor
Hi, I’m Kique Ruiz. I’m from Swampscott, Massachusetts but have been spending my summers banging around in sailboats in Freeport for as long as I can remember. I’ve spent my last ten summers sailing at Harraseeket and racing in regattas across New England in 420s, lasers, and a few big boats. When I’m not in Maine, I’m a rising senior at St. John’s Prep in Danvers, Massachusetts where I am a captain of the sailing team. My high school team primarily focuses on team racing which has certainly widened my perspective on sailing. I’m super excited to join the HYC team as an instructor this year and pass my passion for sailing on to the next generation of Harraseeket sailors!
Jackson Giumarro
Mates Junior Instructor
My name is Jackson Giumarro, and I am excited to begin my coaching journey for my first year as a Junior Instructor at HYC. However, this is not my first time at HYC. I’ve been in the Youth Sailing Program for 6 years, 2 of them being on the 420 Race Team. I’ve always sailed for fun wherever I can, on everything from Optis to J24s. I’ve always loved sailing and being on the water in general, and I’m excited to begin another summer at HYC, and am excited to pass along my sailing experience to younger sailors!
Mates Junior Instructor
Hi everyone! My name is Ben Wintersteen, and I super excited to start coaching for my first time as an instructor at HYC. I’m an upcoming junior in high school and I race for the Falmouth high school team where I’ve traveled to national events for 420’s. I’ve always loved my experiences out on the through sailing and want to help give other people those same experiences. I think that sailing is a fantastic way to get introduced to the Maine waters and to begin feeling comfortable on the water. I am excited to share my love of sailing at HYC this summer.
