Sailing Program Director
Hey there HYC Family and Friends! My name is Nathan Selian and I am thrilled to be returning to HYC as director for the 2024 season. I’ve been cruising the beautiful Maine coast with my family since I was five days old, but my passion for sailing truthfully started when I first enrolled in HYC’s Youth Sailing Program. Starting as a Recruit and ending on the 420 Race Team, I worked my way up through many of the program’s classes developing a love for sailing and creating many lifelong friendships along the way. In High School, I sailed for the Southern Maine HS Sailing Team where I had the honor of serving as Captain. Currently, I’m a 3rd year Mechanical Engineer at Boston University and a member of the BU Dinghy Sailing Team.
I am looking forward to another fun-filled summer as well as meeting many new and returning faces!

Recruits & Opti Race Coach
Hey my name is Daisy Brewer, I’m so exited to be coaching Recruits and the Opti Race Team at HYC this summer! This is my fourth summer coaching at HYC but I have been a part of the youth sailing program since I was a Guppy. I am currently a rising sophomore at Roger Williams University where I swim competitively. I enjoy spending time outside on and off the water and going to concerts with my friends. I’m looking forward to another great summer of sailing!
ATG & Mates
Hello HYC Sailors! I’m Ben and I teach ATG and Mates at HYC. I am an experienced instructor, this being my fourth year at HYC, who loves a balance of fun and learning in the day! I sailed competitively for four years with Falmouth High School’s sailing team. There I gained most of my experience with fleet and team racing in 420 boats. I also enjoy sailing larger vessels in weekly races during the summer. I look forward to meeting all of you this summer and having a great time out on the water!
ATG & Mates
My name is Miles Mannion, and I have been sailing ever since attending my first summer sailing program when I was 6 years old. I sailed on the Falmouth High School race team during the fall and spring seasons throughout all 4 years of high school, only missing a race season when I took a Semester at Sea aboard the schooner Harvey Gamage. During previous summers, I worked at a local sailing venue as an instructor and am excited to continue teaching now at HYC! After graduating high school, I will be attending the University of Vermont in September where I will continue to sail on their college team!
Guppies & Sonar
Hi! My name is Alice Donahue and I am super excited for my second summer at HYC! I am from Yarmouth and just finished my second year at Colorado College where I am studying International Political Economy. This fall I will be heading to the London School of Economics for my junior year. I grew up sailing in Casco and Penobscot bay and absolutely adore being on the water! Before coming to HYC, I taught sailing at Camp Huckins in Freedom, New Hampshire. I am super stoked to be back in Maine and on the ocean this summer!

I am very excited to pass on my knowledge of racing and sailing to young sailors. I began sailing right here in recruits many years ago. I continued through the program and raced on the 420 Race team for 3 years before becoming an instructor. I also have been racing on the Yarmouth High School team for 3 years. I am heading into my senior year and hope to continue sailing through college. Looking forward to a fun season and many great memories!
Junior Instructor
Hello friends of HYC! My name is Johnny and I’m so excited to be returning to the HYC program this year as a Junior Instructor. I began attending the program as a sailor in 2018 and instantly became hooked! While attending as a sailor, I went from having no previous knowledge of sailing, to working my way up through the program sailing with mates, recruits, and sailing on the Sonar. I am going into my Sophomore year at Freeport High School, and in my free time I enjoy being active outdoors, camping, fishing, and hiking. I am very eager to be back on the water with HYC for another Summer of fun, be provided the opportunity to give back to a program that has given me so much. I’m looking forward to working with the team of instructors and helping the children build lifelong skills, friendships, and memories!
Junior Instructor
Hi, my name is Finn Marianski. I started at HYC in Guppies and came up through the program, and I am now so excited to be an instructor and share what I’ve learned! I’m a rising junior at Yarmouth High School where I’ve been on the high school sailing team for the last two years, and this past year I completed my Small Boat Level 1 Instructor certification. Over the years, I’ve really appreciated the challenges, learning, and camaraderie that sailing brings! When I’m not sailing, you can find me skiing, running, taking photos, or playing one of several instruments.
